Flip It!

My grandson has a YouTube channel about trampoline flips! It is so fun to watch him do the doubles, triples, and all the other variations of flips he does. He does them on grass, on sand, in trampoline arcades, neighbor’s backyards—all sorts of places. After months and years of diligent practice he’s become a master artist of flips! So fun! (BN Flips).

But those are physical flips. I have learned an important principle from Doug Addison, (you can check him out on his website), about spiritual flipping. This principle has helped me so much—more than I can express. I’d love to share it with you? Maybe it will help you too?

So, in the past, I’ve had a real issue with judging people, with criticizing people, with my tongue, heart and mind. I didn’t really mean to do that. I like people and get along with most everyone. But for some reason I could ‘see’ or be aware or sense things that were just not right. Instead of seeing the good in everyone, the flaws and trip-ups just seemed to be so clear to me. I didn’t know what to do with that. It didn’t feel like I chose to criticize or judge, it just was so in front of my face.

Now, I want to be clear. We all make our choices. So I understand that even though I didn’t feel like I ‘chose’ to judge/criticize people, it was my choice and I’m responsible. That’s why I love this new flip information so much!! It has been a transformation journey!

So the first thing that Jesus said when He went into ministry was, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Repent means to change the way you think, or act. So mostly our thinking and speaking is worldly, negative and complaining. For me, it was criticizing and judging. To change my thinking would be to think positive and see the good things about people. The Kingdom of Heaven is all about our good God, rescuing us through Jesus’ death and resurrection, and blessing us with His Presence and good gifts. It’s good news! It’s positive! So I need to enter into the positive words of God’s wonderful grace that is in His Kingdom.

So the process of repenting is where my “Flip It” comes in. Instead of criticizing, judging and seeing the flaws of people, I change my thinking to, “What’s God’s grace-desire in all this?” That’s the source of my thinking flip, my mental and emotional reversal. If I sense hatred, then I know that God’s plan and desire is to give this person a vision of His powerful love for everyone. If I see bitterness in someone, then I know that God’s heart is for that person to receive a download of God’s forgiveness for their own failures—enough to spill over into other relationships. Do you see the “Flip It” in all of this?

So, I still see, hear, sense and discern all the same things I always have. But instead of holding on to them, I use the flip-it strategy to speak God’s desire into this person, or maybe just pray it for them, or minimum see them that way. I John 5:16 declares “Flip It!” when it says: If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin…he, (i.e. the person who is seeing this in his brother), will ask, and He, (i.e. God), will give him, (i.e. the person who is sinning), life!! Incredible Flip-it promise!

If I see death, I flip it to life. If anxiety comes, I flip it to peace. For work, rest. Little and scarcity, Abundance. Chains, freedom. Low, high. Down, up. Estrangement, intimacy.

Listen to how King David used “Flip It” in 2 Samuel 16:11-13 when he was attacked by an enemy and in a very volatile situation. “Then David said to Abishai and to all his servants, “My own son is trying to kill me. Doesn’t this relative of Saul have even more reason to do so? Leave him alone and let him curse, for the Lord has told him to do it. And perhaps the Lord will see that I am being wronged and will bless me because of these curses today.” So David and his men continued down the road, and Shimei kept pace with them on a nearby hillside, cursing and throwing stones and dirt at David.”

Flip-it is a powerful strategy with many applications. Dreams that are negative that upset me can have flip-it applied to produce God’s desire for me rather than the enemy’s plans. If I dream of a loss, I can see that the enemy wants to steal something and flip-it as a powerful gain from God. Flip-it can also be used to find faith in a particular situation. When I’m overwhelmed with what the enemy has done in my life or in my friend or loved one’s life, I ask myself what would faith look like in this situation? God is pleased with faith, (Heb. 11:6). So then I imagine the most incredible miracle I could possible dream up that God could accomplish in that situation, (Eph. 3:20). That is the ultimate flip-it. It turns discouragement into faith. It flips the negative view of enemy involvement into God’s miracle and spiritual powerhouse ability.

I’m so grateful that God shared with me the mystery secret of “Flip-It”.

Friend, I impart and bequeath to you, “Flip It”!! You will love it!
