I was in a ministry session. My assignment was to pray. We were in a spiritual battle. In these situations I often feel ‘spirit prompts’ toward a certain passage in the Bible. Then I pray it. Or a reminder picture will come to my mind and I will pray about that. But on this day I definitely heard words from the Holy Spirit in my thoughts. The Holy Spirit spoke, “When it comes time for …(he gave me the upcoming situation)… I want you to stand over there…(He gave me the place to stand)…. and worship Jesus loudly.” I was a little surprised at being given such a specific battle plan against the enemy. I obeyed these words. I watched for the correct timing. I stood where I was told. I opened my mouth to worship and what bubbled up in my heart was the Name, Jesus. So I loudly worshipped with the Name of the King of Kings and Lord of Lord, “JESUS” over and over!!
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

I look it my past and I remember that though I was raised in a christian home–a ministry family–I never heard the name of Jesus spoken like I just related to you. I never heard that in a prayer session, at home or at church. I recall in my mid-life when I was seeking God and He was moving deeply in my heart that I heard a prompt to speak the name of Jesus out loud. It seemed such a strange request to me? I was shy. Could I really do that? So I just whispered, very tentatively, “Jesus“. It was thrilling and warmed my heart. ❤️
Have you ever spoken the name of Jesus out loud?
Well, I’m sure some of you are thinking: I have spoken the name of Jesus out loud by swearing and cursing. Could it be the enemy’s strategy to shut our mouths to speaking this powerful Name–we don’t want to be people who use curse words and that’s the world’s favorite word to swear with. So as christians we avoid speaking The Name as worship?

The day after the ministry session I described to you at the beginning of this blog, I struggled with a hurt heart and critical thoughts against friends. I dealt with this in my devotional time with Jesus. I cried my tears of hurt to Him. I asked for forgiveness for critical thoughts. I declared to Him that I forgive my friends because He, Jesus, has forgiven me.
I know to do that is so important. I realize that a continued unforgiving heart is an open door to evil spirits. I want to keep all these doors shut. Besides I love friends and I don’t want anything between us.
The critical thoughts, the rumination of conversations kept continuing round and round in my mind. They wouldn’t stop.
Have you ever had that happen? Words that keep repeating in your head? Pictures that won’t go away?
What did I do? This was not me. This was not my desire. It was an attack of some kind? Well, I know that we do not fight the enemy with fleshly weapons. We have to use spiritual weapons.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
ephesians 6:12

What are our spiritual weapons? The Word of God, prayer, worship, faith, spiritual gifts, to name a few.
And the wonderful thing about God is that He is so willing to help us! He will give us the specific weapon for each specific attack or difficult situation we are going through so we can do His will and please Him–the One we love with all our heart and soul and mind and strength. And that’s what I got! Two specific weapons to use in this situation.

The first weapon was the same one that the Lord gave me in the ministry session. Use the name of Jesus in worship. So I quietly whispered the name Jesus in love. I repeated it. I increased the volume until the name of my precious Savior was louder than the critical thoughts in my head and instead of those thoughts the powerful Name of Jesus took its rightful place in my mind! I have the mind of Christ!
“For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16
The second weapon came to me as a song in my heart as I woke up in the morning. When I get a song in the morning, I know it as a ‘word’ from the Holy Spirit that has power and import for me that day. I received that song and held on to it and found it on YouTube. I played it to begin devotions. I rehearsed it in prayer. I kept it for a few days as ‘my song’. I kept it on “repeat” in my heart and my thoughts.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5
Thanks for listening/reading my warfare story. We all have our struggle. Everyone is in a battle. The enemy’s main strategy is to capture our thought life. You are not alone. We are in this together and Jesus is with us! Jesus is for us! I have presented to you the two weapons that the Holy Spirit gave me. You are welcome to use them. I encourage you to use them! But even better than that, God will give you specific weapons for your battle. The Holy Spirit loves to give spiritual gifts for personal warfare. Ask Him for them!
Just get in the battle! Never give up!!
